Summer Archive

September 3 to October 3, 2021

Ampersand is pleased to present Summer Archive, an exhibition of works by Sebastian Gögel, Ellen McFadden, Thomas Moeker, Mark Mulroney and Andrew Pope. Taken from past exhibitions here at the gallery, the selected paintings and drawings are presented in a new context—a new dialogue among creative approaches that are, by degrees, both disparate and alike depending on how you view them.

Sebastian Gögel lives and works in Leipzig, Germany. His work has been widely exhibited, including in 5000 miles away here at Ampersand alongside works by Christoph Ruckhäberle and Thomas Moeker. View additional works by the artist here.

Ellen McFadden was born in 1928 in Portland, Oregon. She attended the Portland Art Museum School (now the Pacific Northwest College of Art) in the late 1940s, followed by a lifelong commitment to art and design, both as an instructor and freelance graphic designer in the Northwest and Iowa. In addition to multiple exhibitions here at Ampersand, McFadden’s paintings have been featured in solo presentations at Weiden+Kennedy (Portland, OR) and she was among 34 artists selected for the Portland Biennial, 2016. Thomas Moecker lives and works in Leipzig, Germany. His paintings and sculptures have been widely exhibited, including in here at Ampersand 5000 miles away alongside works by Christoph Ruckhäberle and Sebastian Gögel. View additional works by the artist here.

Mark Mulroney lives and works in North Haven, Connecticut. He received his BFA from San Diego State University and his MFA in Studio Arts from the University of California at Santa Barbara. His work has been widely exhibited, including Another Smile and New Works on Paper here at Ampersand. His small edition book, Dogs Bleeding Evil, was published by Ampersand in 2015. Andrew Pope lives and works in New York City. His artwork has been exhibited in group shows at Half Gallery (New York) in 2016, Galerie Sebastien Bertrand (Geneva) in 2017 and Turn Gallery (New York) in 2018, among others. A solo exhibition, Lonescape, was at Fortnight Institute (New York) in 2019. His paintings were first featured here at Ampersand in Private Property. View additional works by the artist here.
